Sustainable – but how?!

May 2012

When starting the Science Year 2012 “Project Earth: Our Future” (Wissenschaftsjahr 2012 – Zukunftsprojekt Erde) the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research which is responsible for the campaign had the Forsa Institute conduct a survey on sustainability. This survey detected that sustainability is a rather vague concept to most Germans. The topic as well as the term encounter us on a daily basis in our lives and have become part of our vocabulary due to the drastic population increase, technologies that lead to shortage of resources, or the ruthless exploitation of nature. Still, most participants of the survey showed incapable of defining the term sustainability – be it as an ecological, economic, social parameter or simply as a part of their daily actions. This does not account for kalia kommunikation. Since its foundation the Berlin-based PR agency and consultancy has set itself clear goals when it comes to internal and external actions of sustainability.

Many of the agency`s clients are companies whose services and products are designed for future, conservation and longevity. What is more, these companies identify themselves with the target group of the LOHAS just as much as the communication experts from kalia do. Right from the heart of the German capital the agency provides its clients with individual and realistic concepts that lead to economic efficiency for kalia as well as the clients, thanks to the concepts` persistent and consistent orientation.

In addition, the PR consultancy works pro bono on a regular basis in order to foster promising and path breaking projects that share its sustainable ideas. To name one example, kalia kommunikation supports the Internet platform Doonited since its launch in August 2011 in terms of PR and communication advisory. Doonited is a social network that motivates its members to perform a good deed every day and aims at re-establishing values like helpfulness, empathy and altruism. Also in their office routine, the consultants of kalia put emphasis on a sustainable lifestyle. Green electricity, wholefood products and a water dispenser that conserves resources are a matter of course for the agency. Whenever possible, the consultants work paperless and if office equipment is needed the agency orders at memo, an environmental-friendly mail order.
